If you plan to visit the Thames you will need to purchase a visitor licence at either Shepperton or Sunbury Lock.  The visitor moorings at Windsor and Henley-on-Thames cost approximately £12 per night, the moorings at Hampton Court Palace are free for 24 hours but you do need to register your arrival to avoid getting a mooring fine.

From the River Wey you have the choice of heading right towards Teddington Lock where you can stop and visit Hampton Court Palace or turn left towards Windsor, Henley-on-Thames and beyond.

Henley is situated in the beautiful Chiltern valley and hosts the annual Royal Reggata and the Henley Festival of Music.

A visit to Windsor is a must with the 11th century Windsor Castle, a royal residence for over 900 years, where you can see the changing of the guard and walk in the Great Park.  There is excellent shopping, bars and restaurants and a frequent bus service to Legoland Windsor.

From scenic walks along the Thames Path National Trail, drinking and dining at the riverside pubs and restaurants, wildlife, fishing (there are over 25 species of fish) and watching the many boating activities such as rowing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing, there is plenty to keep you entertained.

Hampton Court Palace, once owned by Henry VIII, is a major UK tourist attraction and hosts the annual Hampton Court Flower show and numerous music performances.  Visit www.hrp.org.uk for a programme of events.
